At least three persons, including a Myanmar national, have died and one other injured when a sand pit caved in at Tiau river on the Mizoram-Myanmar border, sources said. The incident occurred at around 11 am on Thursday near Melbuk village in east Mizoram Champhai district when the victims were working at the sand pit, it said.While two people died on the spot, a Myanmar national succumbed to his injury while taken to nearby hospital, it said.
The victims have been identified as Lalmalsawmdawnga (16) and Lalmuankima (18), both from Melbuk village and Laltandika (20), a resident of Myanmar’s Tahan.
The injured person has been rushed to Champhai district hospital and he is out of danger.
