A total of 7,309 people arrests in drug and alcohol-related cases in Mizoram

The state’s Excise and Narcotics Department stated in a statement Wednesday that 7,309 persons were arrested in dry Mizoram in 2024 for drug and alcohol-related offenses. 46.5 kilograms of heroin, 138.8 kg of methamphetamine pills, and 586.6 kg of ganja were among the substances the department recovered, according to the statement. According to the report, the department also confiscated 177 bottles and 36,535 cans of beer, 67,911 liters of illegal liquor created in the country or locally, 16,768 liters of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), and 357 liters of foreign-made liquor. According to the statement, additional seizures included 4,119 liters of BEDC (Myanmarese alcoholic drinks), 7,523 Alprozolam tablets, 6,129 Nitrazepam tablets, and 2,580 Diazepam tablets.
