ICAR Research Centre for NEH Region Mizoram, Kolasib organized “Interface Meeting with Agriculture and Allied Sectors for Strengthening the Agricultural Research and extension Linkages between ICAR, Govt. of Mizoram and other Stakeholders ” program at Aijal Club and Mizoram’s Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Pu C. Lalsawivunga and Acting Chief Secretary Pu H. Lalengmawia benignly graced inaugural function of the the programme as the Chief Guest and Guest of honour respectively, here in Aizawl today.
The program aimed to strengthen agricultural research and extension linkages between ICAR, the government of Mizoram, and other stakeholders. In his address, Minister Pu C. Lalsawivunga emphasized the significance of agriculture and its allied sectors to Mizoram’s economy and the livelihoods of its people. He appreciated ICAR’s initiative in organizing this crucial meeting, which will help boost the state’s economy and farmers’ progress.The minister also highlighted the impact of African Swine Fever on the state’s pig farmers, resulting in losses of over ₹600 crores.
He stressed the need for collaborative research with ICAR to develop vaccines and mitigate such issues. In today’s programme the Minister released a book called “Socio-Economic Development of Mizo Farmers through Integrated Farming System (IFS)” co-authored by 11 eminent faculty members of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre, Kolasib.
