Aizawl Police Recover 284 Lost Phones

The first biannual Crime Review Meeting for Aizawl District in 2025 was held on Thursday at the Superintendent of Police (SP) Conference Hall. Chaired by SP Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng, the session was inaugurated by DIG (Northern Range), Ashok Malik, IPS. The meeting brought together SDPOs, OCs, and IOs to assess crime trends and enforcement efforts from January to June 2025.

A total of 800+ criminal cases were registered with theft and assault accounting for 65%, and drug offences comprising 14%. Of these, 107 cases proceeded to court, achieving an impressive 89% conviction rate.

Emphasizing community policing, the Aizawl District Police organized legal awareness programs in schools, colleges, and Sunday Schools, especially after the implementation of India’s new criminal laws on July 1, 2024.

In 2025, 24 drug awareness drives reached nearly 4,900 people. Additionally, 41 ILP checks detected 195 violators. Night patrols across the city continue, with 10 teams active nightly. Notably, 284 stolen phones were recovered, led by Constable Ramengmawii’s 120 recoveries, earning her a commendation.
