Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, is set to host the second edition of Red Bull Aizawl Tlang Ruam this November—Asia’s first urban downhill mountain biking event—aimed at boosting the state’s sports image and promoting adventure tourism, officials confirmed.
During a high-level review meeting on Tuesday, Sports, Youth Services, and Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, along with officials and event partners, discussed refining logistics, upgrading race routes, and increasing community involvement.
Hmar shared his vision for the 2025 edition to be “larger, more inclusive, and more demanding,” highlighting Mizoram’s potential to host international sporting events and engage its youth. He called the event a symbol of the state’s growing global sports presence.
Last year’s debut edition in October attracted 22 elite riders, including global downhill stars Tomas Slavik and Pedro Burns, who also mentored local bikers. This year’s course will be longer and more challenging, stretching from Upper Republic to ITI junction. Building on its initial success, Mizoram aims to draw more international athletes and adventure seekers.
