The Assam Rifles has come forward with a strong statement alleging harassment by the State Government following the disruption of water supply to its KLP Zokhawsang camp in Aizawl since March 25.
In a letter addressed to the Home Commissioner of Mizoram, the Assam Rifles expressed dismay over the cessation of water supply despite assurances from the Honorable PHE Minister and existing water supply rules. The letter emphasized the critical nature of uninterrupted water supply for the Border Guarding Force, highlighting the plight of around 200 troops, 9 families, and additional students and staff accommodated under various initiatives.
The missive detailed attempts made by Assam Rifles officials to resolve the issue, including meetings with the PHE Minister and senior executives. However, despite assurances, the water supply remains halted, adversely affecting daily operations and jeopardizing the health of personnel stationed at Zokhawsang.
An official from Assam Rifles condemned the situation as unacceptable, questioning the denial of a fundamental right like water supply to citizens, students, and local teaching staff.
