Assam Rifles recovers heroin, ganja worth Rs. 1.8 crore

In yet another success in its series of operations against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles along with state agencies recovered 476.40 grams of Marijuana and 258.7 grams of heroin both worth Rs.  1.83 crore in two separate operation in south Mizoram’s Siaha town on August 3 and August 5, Assam Rifles said in a statement.

Two persons have been arrested for possessing the contraband, it said.  The operations were carried out  on the basis of targeted intelligence gathering and continuous surveillance of suspected peddlers, the statement said.

The two accused and recovered consignment were handed over to the state police for further legal proceedings, the statement added.
