Assam Rifles seize illegal areca nuts worth Rs. 2.51 crore in Champhai district

In a coordinated effort to combat smuggling activities, Assam Rifles and the Customs Preventive Force successfully intercepted and seized a substantial haul of illegal Areca nuts, valued at Rs. 2.51 crore, in the Champhai district of Mizoram.

The operation, conducted on February 7, 2024, yielded 512 bags of the contraband in the vicinity of Ruantlang Tiau River Road. Acting on precise intelligence, a joint team comprising personnel from Assam Rifles and the Customs Preventive Force executed the operation, resulting in the confiscation of the entire consignment.

The intercepted Areca nuts, with an estimated value of Rs. 2,51,65,000, were handed over to the Customs Preventive Force in Champhai for further legal action.
