Cameron Green, an all-rounder for Australia, will not play in the upcoming ODI series against India due to side pain. To replace him, Marnus Labuschagne has been chosen. After the injury was determined to be low grade, Cricket Australia (CA) decided to adopt a cautious strategy because of Green’s significance to their Ashes aspirations. Green will miss the three ODIs scheduled on October 19, 23, and 25 but is expected to return for Western Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match starting on October 28.
In his first bowling debut since undergoing back surgery last year, the all-rounder claimed a wicket in four overs during last week’s Shield encounter. CA confirmed that his current setback is unrelated to the operation he had last October. According to a statement released by CA, “Green will finish a brief period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes.”
Labuschagne is in fine form as he makes his comeback to the ODI system after scoring two of his four hundreds for his home team, Queensland, in the 50-over format. The top-order batsman was initially passed up for selection after scoring one and one in the August home ODIs against South Africa. Adam Zampa was unable to play in the series opener due to family obligations; therefore, Matthew Kuhnemann took his place. Josh Philippe replaced Josh Inglis, who is currently out with a calf strain. Prior to the opening match of the series against India, this is Australia’s third forced change.
Zampa, Inglis, and Alex Carey are all available for Australia to start the second game. Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, and Mitchell Starc make up the Australian squad. Adam Zampa, Alex Carey, and Josh Inglis starting in game two.
