Chief secretary chairs the 8th state level ncord meeting

The 8th Meeting of the State Level NCORD meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma in the SAD Conference Hall, MINECO. In her address, Dr. Renu Sharma, Chief Secretary, Mizoram praised the dedication and efforts of law enforcement agencies for their efforts and also urged all stakeholders to continue their efforts in the fight against drugs. The district DC/SPs were also instructed to convene the District NCORD meetings regularly on a monthly basis for better coordination and use the meetings as a useful opportunity to share experiences and useful information in combating the drugs menace at the district level.

Pu Anil Shukla, DGP Mizoram reiterated the importance of active participation in joint interrogations by various law enforcement agencies in drugs related cases. He also stressed that not only drugs but also tobacco and alcohol should be taken seriously. He further stated that the need of setting up of NCB office in Mizoram as many drugs cases are registered. He also appealed that law enforcement agencies should work together to investigate drug-related cases and fight drugs menace. Pu Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, IGP (Intel) & Head of Anti-Narcotics Task Force while highlighting the efforts of Mizoram Police and END stated that in the year 2024 upto the month of August, drugs worth over Rs. 1797.2 Cr have been seized, in which 640 cases were registered and 870 persons have been arrested.

Action taken by various stakeholders including NCB, Mizoram Police, Excise and Narcotics Department, Assam Rifles and Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Departments were reviewed and the meeting discussed further course of action in the fight against drugs. The meeting was also attended by Home Secretary, END Secretary, Senior officials of State Government, representatives of NCB, Assam Rifles, BSF and SIB. The DCs and SPs of all districts and AD NER NCB also attended the meeting via video conference.
