Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma inaugurated Mmhonlumo Kikon’s latest literary endeavor, “His Majesty’s Headhunter: The Siege of Kohima That Shaped World History,” at the Mizoram University Conference Hall. In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the historical significance of the book, which chronicles the pivotal events surrounding the siege and liberation of Kohima in June 1944 during World War II. He noted the profound interest the narrative holds for Mizos, particularly given the involvement of prominent figures like former Mizoram Finance Minister Pu J. Lalsangzuala and Pu Lalbuaia Lushai among the victims. The global impact of the Kohima siege, often likened to the “Stalingrad of the East,” played a crucial role in the eventual retreat of Japanese forces.
Additionally, the Chief Minister praised the bravery and sacrifice of the Naga brothers during the war, hailing them as exemplary heroes. He commended author Mmhonlumo Kikon for his dedicated efforts in bringing this significant chapter of history to light, highlighting the book’s educational value for students and historians alike.
In his remarks, Mmhonlumo Kikon expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his unwavering support in the publication of the book.
