In an effort to encourage citizens to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and raise awareness, Chief Electoral Officer, Mizoram, in association with Mizoram Cycling Association (MiCA) organised Cycle Rally themed “I RIDE and VOTE for sure”, today. The rally was led by Chief Electoral Officer Madhup Vyas and 103 cyclists participated enthusiastically. The cycle rally commenced from Kulikawn tri-junction at 6:00 AM and covered Aizawl main spine road. The rally was flagged off by Addl. CEO Prasanna A. Acharya and ended in AMC Office, Thuampui at 7:30 AM.
Chief Electoral Officer Madhup Vyas appreciated MiCA members for participating in the rally, and said that the participation of young children who do not have vote yet, shows the enthusiasm of the people and that will be a source of inspiration for others to come out and vote in the Lok Sabha election. He said that the children’s participation in the Lok Sabha election will be a source of inspiration for others. Dr. H.Lianzela, Addl CEO, in his speech, appreciated the efforts rendered by Mizoram Cycling Association for a successful Cycle Rally. He also invited all members of MiCA to become “Ambassadors” for the highest ever voter turnout in the history of Lok Sabha Elections in Mizoram and appealed to the young riders to ask their families and neighbours to vote.
He also said that in the past, “Free and Fair” and “Law & Order” were the usual themes of elections but now the focus has shifted more on “Participative, Accessible & Inclusive Election” which is a prerequisite for a meaningful and aspirational democracy. He urged the participants to reach the unreached and inspire them to take part in the Lok Sabha election. The youngest participant at the Cycle Rally is a 10-year old boy Samuel, and the oldest id Dr. Malsawmkima, a 55-year old rider. Aizawl DEO Nazuk Kumar, Dy. CEO Henry C. Lalrawnkima and a Dr. Franklin Lalringngheta, President, MiCA also expressed his pleasure at the enthusiasm shown by MiCA President Dr Franklin Lalringngheta said that the cycle rally was organized in collaboration with good number of officers and staff from the CEO’s Office were present on the occasion.
