Development Cooperation in Focus as UNDP Representative Calls on Mizoram CM

Angela Lusigi, the Resident Representative of the UNDP in India, met with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma in Aizawl on Tuesday. The Chief Minister commended UNDP’s efforts in Mizoram and urged for increased engagement from the organization. He expressed gratitude for UNDP’s ongoing support and highlighted that three Mizoram districts are among the top performers in the NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Index. He emphasized Mizoram’s reputation for peace and low corruption, sharing a vision for the State to contribute one percent to India’s GDP by 2047 and requested UNDP to enhance its initiatives to help achieve this goal. Lusigi acknowledged Mizoram’s pleasantness and its recent advancements, presented UNDP’s focus areas, and sought to understand the State Government’s key priority sectors. The Chief Minister was accompanied by several officials during the meeting.
