Fifteenth Finance Commission releases Rs 114 crore as grants for the Rural Local Bodies

For the fiscal year 2024–2025, the Fifteenth Finance Commission has disbursed Rs 114 crores in funds to the Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) of Mizoram and Tripura. Supporting the growth and upkeep of vital services in certain areas is the goal of this Union Government allocation. Both the first installment of Tied grants Rs 47.10 crores and the first installment of Untied grants Rs 31.40 crores have been distributed in Tripura.

These funds are meant for all 1,260 rural local bodies, including 40 block advisory committees, 587 village committees, and traditional local bodies like the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The second installment of untied funds for Mizoram, totaling Rs 14.20 crores for the fiscal year 2022–2023; the second installment of tied grants, totaling Rs 21.30 crores, has also been released by the commission. 834 village councils, including those in areas under the Autonomous District Council, are the beneficiaries of these subsidies.
