Flights to Lengpui Airport cancelled after runway damage

All incoming flights to Mizoram’s lone Lengpui Airport were cancelled on Friday after the runway sustained damage during an aircraft’s take-off. According to officials, an IndiGo flight bound for Guwahati scraped the edge of the runway while taking off, causing visible damage.

As a precautionary measure, flights from Kolkata and Delhi scheduled to land at Lengpui were cancelled due to safety concerns. Airport authorities said emergency repair work was being carried out on Friday, and normal flight operations are expected to resume once the runway is restored.
