In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, authorities in Mizoram’s Champhai district seized heroin valued at over three crores on Monday at Melbuk Rd Junction, Zokhawthar. Acting on precise intelligence, a collaborative effort between the 42 Battalion of the Assam Rifles and the Police Department of Zokhawthar, Champhai District, led to the recovery of 41 soap cases containing heroin, weighing a total of 453 grams, at Melbuk Road in Zokhawthar hamlet.
The total value of the confiscated contraband is estimated to be 3,17,10,000 rupees (Rupees Three Crore Seventeen Lakh Ten Thousand only). Additionally, the joint operation resulted in the apprehension of Lallengzama (25), a resident of Dilkawn, Champhai. A Tata Sumo vehicle with registration number MZ01J 8466, utilized for transporting the illicit drugs, was also seized during the operation.
Both the vehicle and the arrested individual have been handed over to the Police Department in Zokhawthar, Champhai District, for further legal proceedings. This successful operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and uphold the rule of law in Mizoram.
