Mizoram’s Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Minister, Dr. Vanlalthlana on Friday attended the 18th Edition of the Digital Transformation Conclave held at Taj Cidade De Goa as a Guest of Honour. The event was graced by Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, IT, Electronics & Communications and Printing & Stationery, Government of Goa, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Vanlalthlana highlighted the transformative impact of the Digital India Mission across various sectors, emphasizing its significant progress in Mizoram. He noted that digital technology has reached every corner of the state, enabling effective public service delivery despite numerous challenges. He outlined ongoing efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, including the Mizo Fiber Grid Network project and the BharatNet Phase-III project, aimed at enhancing internet connectivity. He also spoke about initiatives to expand 4G coverage and prepare for 5G services across the state, addressing connectivity issues in areas with limited fibre access through satellite-based internet solutions.
Dr. Vanlalthlana also discussed Mizoram’s advancements in e-Governance, noting that the entire Secretariat has transitioned to an e-Office system, currently utilized by the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and approximately 700 users. He highlighted practical digital initiatives such as e-RAM, Online OPD, Deaths & Births registration, MPSC Online platform, Vantlang Viltu (Citizen’s Eye App), Online Bill Payment, KAI App, Leak Apps and Mipui Aw, which have proven highly effective for public use. The ICT Minister stressed the importance of fostering meaningful dialogue to drive comprehensive and inclusive development. He outlined Mizoram’s proactive steps toward embracing Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT and GIS solutions, and emphasized the need for digital literacy programs. In collaboration with Microsoft, the state is working to educate youth on Artificial Intelligence. Under the Bhasini initiative, efforts are underway to integrate Mizo and other local languages into digital platforms. The Mizoram Startup Mission is also nurturing digital entrepreneurship.
Dr. Vanlalthlana reaffirmed Mizoram’s commitment to contributing to the Digital India vision and advancing digital technology. He expressed the state’s readiness to collaborate with other states, technology companies and innovators to achieve a self-reliant and developed India—Viksit Bharat @2047. He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a robust, inclusive, and future ready Digital India. The 18th Digital Transformation Conclave, themed ‘Digital India to Viksit Bharat: Transforming Governance with AI & Emerging Tech’, served as a platform for discussions among government officials, IT companies, and academia on strategies to advance public digital transformation effectively. The conclave was divided into an Inaugural & Opening Session and a Panel Discussion Session. Dr. Vanlalthlana engaged with senior government officials from Govt. of India, Corporate representatives and various companies to explore collaborative opportunities in e-Governance. Dr. Vanlalthlana was accompanied by Shri Amit Sharma, Secretary of the ICT Department, Government of Mizoram, during the event.
