IIMC Aizawl hosts India AI Impact Summit 2026 Pre-Summit Conference

IIMC Aizawl, today organised ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026 ‘– Mizoram State Regional Pre-Summit Conference at its conference hall, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and IIT Bombay.The event was inaugurated by IIMC Aizawl Regional Director (in-charge) and Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) News Director Pu Nampibou Marinmai. Speaking on the occasion, he said it was an honour for IIMC Aizawl to host the regional pre-summit of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which is being jointly organised with IIT Bombay. He expressed hope that the discussions and training sessions held during the summit would contribute to national development through the effective use of AI and help enhance knowledge and capacity in the field of AI.

Pu Nampibou Marinmai highlighted the growth of IIMC Aizawl since its establishment in 2011. He said that over the past decade, the institute has produced graduates who are now working in various parts of the country. Initially, the institute offered only postgraduate diploma programmes, but it has since expanded to include Master’s degree courses. He added that initiatives are also underway to introduce a PhD programme in the future.The summit featured eight panellists who spoke on the theme “AI and Media”. An interactive discussion and question-and-answer session was also held with students, allowing them to engage directly with experts. The summit will continue on Thursday, during which specialised training on AI technology will also be conducted.

IIMC is headquartered in New Delhi and has five regional campuses across India. The Aizawl campus, located at Mizoram University, serves as the North-East Regional Campus. At present, 20 students are pursuing English Journalism, while 14 students are enrolled in the Master’s programme in New Media Communications, all of whom are from outside the state.
