IIT Guwahati expands reach with computing and skilling facility inauguration by CM Lalduhoma

A new chapter in technological advancement unfolds as Mizoram Chief Minister, Lalduhoma, inaugurated the Computing & Skilling Facility Centre at IIT-Guwahati’s Electronic & ICT Academy Department. The ceremony, attended by esteemed guests including Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, and Dr. G. Krishnamoorthy, Dean of Industry Interaction & Special Initiatives (II&SI), marked a significant leap forward in providing advanced technical education and training opportunities.

In his address, Chief Minister Lalduhoma lauded the efforts of IIT Guwahati in securing the seventh position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework. He emphasized the transformative potential of technology and its pivotal role in shaping the future. The inauguration of the Computing & Skilling Centre was hailed as a milestone in empowering Mizoram’s youth with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age. Expressing his delight in inaugurating the facility, Lalduhoma commended the Electronics & ICT Academy’s initiative to introduce information technology courses and lab facilities in Mizoram.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for the youth, aligning with its Hand Holding Policy aimed at nurturing talent and fostering growth. The Electronic & ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, has been a beacon of excellence in upskilling and reskilling. With a track record of training over 22,000 individuals in domains such as VLSI, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security, the Academy continues to bridge the skill gap and empower professionals across the nation. Gaurav Trivedi, Assistant Professor & Principal Investigator, shed light on the diverse range of courses and lab facilities introduced by the Electronics & ICT department in Mizoram.
