In exchange, TMC may receive a seat in Tura

New Delhi: As part of an overarching agreement previously negotiated in several states, the Trinamool Congress may defeat the Congress for the Tura seat amid speculations of a divided opposition INDIA group.
The departure of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which left the Congress-led INDIA alliance in ruins, has caused the opposition parties, especially the Congress, to retreat.
It is also reported that the grand old party has realized the necessity to fight together in as many states as possible following Rahul Gandhi’s allegedly “successful” Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi, advised the Congress to grasp the situation on the ground, and as a result, the party changed course and struck seat-sharing agreements with the Aam Aadmi Party, which is reputed to be in a strong position, in Delhi, Haryana, Goa, Chandigarh, and even Gujarat.
The Congress has decided to work with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar and Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi party even in the largest state of Uttar Pradesh. The All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, and the Congress are now in negotiations to share seats in West Bengal, one of the five states with the most Lok Sabha seats.

Assam and Meghalaya would be impacted by the seat-sharing negotiations in West Bengal since the TMC, led by former chief minister Mukul Sangma, has been pushing for two seats in Assam and the Tura Lok Sabha seat in Meghalaya.
Given that the Congress is reportedly in third place in terms of popularity after the ruling NPP and TMC, clearing the Tura seat should not be a particularly tough decision for the party.
When it comes to Mukul’s former partner and three-time Lok Sabha member Vincent H Pala, who is running for an unprecedented fourth term in Shillong, neither the TMC nor Mukul have filed a claim.

However, any seat-sharing agreement is being thwarted by the significant political and personal disputes between Mukul and Pala, which caused the former to resign from the Congress.
Though it finally needs to follow the AICC ruling, the Meghalaya Congress is not in the mood to give up the Tura seat to the TMC.
