JioHotstar outage hits users across India

Streaming service JioHotstar appeared to be experiencing widespread outages, according to numerous user reports on social media. Several users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share issues they faced while trying to use the platform. Some complained that the search icon was missing from the JioHotstar app, while others encountered a “Something went wrong” error. One user questioned whether the issue was widespread, while another claimed the outage occurred due to a surge in viewership for the #Aurora series, saying the servers couldn’t handle the traffic. Another post noted that only two tabs—Home and Sports—were visible, with several features missing.

Testing the app confirmed that the search option had indeed disappeared, and attempting to play content triggered a “Network error” stating, “Unable to connect to JioHotstar.” On the web version, although the search icon and menus appeared, trying to access any content resulted in the same error message. As of now, JioHotstar has not issued any official statement regarding the outage, even as frustrated users continue to flood its X handle with complaints.
