Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan had previously said that she was supposed to act in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, but she stepped out of the project just before it was due to begin filming.
Eventually, Deepika Padukone featured in the film with Ranveer Singh, and both fell in love with each other while shooting the film. Now, Kareena has opened up about how she has faith in destiny and jokingly revealed that Deepika and Ranveer are yet to thank her for not doing the movie and indirectly facilitating their romance.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Kareena said about her partnership with Deepika, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Ranveer in her next film Singham Again. When asked if Deepika-Ranveer thanked her for stepping out of Bhansali’s film, she said, “I believe in destiny, and I believe that whatever is meant to be in your life will happen, through anything. All is written in the stars and everything is not written for everyone.”
Kareena had previously opened up about not wanting to work with Bhansali after he cast Aishwarya Rai over her in Devdas. She told Filmfare, “I’ll never. What he did to me was wrong. He screen-tested me for Devdas, gave me a signing amount, then took someone else. That was wrong, it hurt especially because I was at the start of my career. It’s okay, because the day he dropped me, I signed Yaadein. Sanjay hurt me. Even if I have no work, I’ll never work with him.”
The actress was also approached for Karan Johar’s movie Kal Ho Na Ho opposite SRK and Saif Ali Khan. However, she responded to that even if she had done that film, things might have been different between her and Saif, with whom she tied the knot in 2012.
The actor said that she doesn’t regret not doing the film and said, “Maybe it would have been very different because that was maybe not the time. And that’s why I strongly believe in timing, because maybe that was not the time for us to be together, and things just happen. So much in my life has been about timing, about choices, and I strongly believe in destiny and what belongs to you will come to you no matter what. But whatever is not meant to be, you know, no matter how much you try to hold on or how much you try to make things happen.”
The actress was recently seen in the film Crew. Also featuring Kriti Sanon and Tabu, the film was a box-office hit.
