The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the Mizo National Front (MNF) have formed a joint legislature party, the Lairam Legislature Party (LLP), following the 12th Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) elections, where no party gained a clear majority. This collaboration aims to ensure political stability and effective governance in the council. T. Zakunga from ZPM has been nominated as the chief executive member (CEM), while a nominee from the MNF will serve as deputy CEM. ZPM won six seats in the council, with elected members including T. Zakunga, L.R. Dingliana Chinzah, Lallura Chinzah, T. Lalchhuanvawra, K. Lalchhuanpuia, and K. Lalramzauva.

Zakunga expressed gratitude for what he described as the ‘ZPM government in Mizoram’ and acknowledged the modest electoral outcome as God’s will. He noted that the ZPM leadership considered forming a government with the Congress but ultimately decided that an alliance with the MNF would bring greater stability and efficiency. Zakunga addressed developmental challenges stemming from political instability and expressed optimism that the united leadership would restore effective governance in the LADC.
