Laldinsanga, the reigning LPS (local television channel) Pro Fight champion, secured a resounding victory against Ghana’s Michael Decardi Nelson on Saturday night, claiming the WBC Youth Bantamweight World Title in an intense bout at Bangalore. In the Super Fight Series’ main event, 21-year-old Laldinsanga dominated Nelson across all eight rounds. Despite Nelson putting up a tough fight, the judges awarded a unanimous decision in favour of Laldinsanga, with scores of 79-71, 77-74, and 78-73. Hailing from Ramthar neighbourhood in south Mizoram’s Lunglei town, Laldinsanga has become the second Mizo boxer to achieve the prestigious WBC Youth World Championship title.

His professional boxing career has seen consistent success, marking him as one of Mizoram’s longest-reigning champions. Following his title win, Laldinsanga is set to defend his LPS Pro Fight Bantamweight title on December 6 at the LPS Arena in Aizawl. The first Mizo WBC Youth World Champion, Lalrinsanga Tlau, won the super featherweight title in March 2021, defeating Ghanaian boxer Eric Quarm during the LPS Fight Night in Aizawl. Lalrinsanga, however, stepped away from boxing after his February 2022 fight.

Laldinsanga’s journey to the championship was marked by a spectacular win against Mohd Junaid on September 21 in Bangalore, where he secured a technical knockout in the opening round. His performance against Nelson showcased his refined skills and resilience, with Laldinsanga delivering precise strikes and maintaining control throughout the bout. In the decisive eighth round, Laldinsanga unleashed a flurry of punches that overwhelmed Nelson, forcing the referee to intervene. Despite Nelson’s efforts to counter, Laldinsanga’s dominance was evident, earning him the coveted title. EOM
