Nissan Motor India’s New Nissan Magnite has secured a 5-star overall passenger safety rating from Global NCAP. The right-hand drive (RHD) model, built at the company’s Chennai plant and exported to over 65 countries, received a perfect score for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 3-star rating for Child Occupant Protection (COP), making it one of the safest compact SUVs in its class.
The Magnite, launched in October 2024, is engineered on the enhanced CMF-A+ platform and features 40+ standard safety enhancements, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, TCS, and Brake Assist. Its reinforced body structure, composed of 67% high-tensile steel, meets stringent global safety norms, aligning with Nissan’s ‘One Car, One World’ strategy.
Industry analysts say the rating is expected to strengthen Nissan’s position in domestic and international markets, appealing to both retail buyers and institutional investors focused on safety-driven product portfolios.
Consumer sentiment has seen a sharp uptick, with local dealerships noting higher walk-ins and serious enquiries. Buyers in the region are increasingly valuing safety alongside affordability, positioning the Magnite as a leading choice in the growing compact SUV segment.
