Major drug bust in Mizoram, Assam Rifles seize narcotics worth Rs 1.75 crore in Champhai

In a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to combat smuggling operations, authorities in Mizoram have intercepted narcotics valued at Rs 1.75 crore in the Champhai district. The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Police Department, seized four containers of heroin during operations conducted in the general areas of Melbuk Road Junction and New Hruikawn, Zokhawthar, Champhai district.

The seizures, which occurred in two separate operations on February 10, included 124 grams of heroin valued at Rs. 86.8 lakh and 127 grams valued at Rs. 88.9 lakh. Acting on specific intelligence, joint teams of Assam Rifles and local law enforcement personnel executed the operations.

The combined value of the seized heroin amounts to Rs. 1,75,70,000 (Rupees one crore seventy-five lakh seventy thousand only). Following the seizures, the recovered consignments were handed over to the Police Department in Zokhawthar for further legal proceedings.
