Champhai Police made a significant breakthrough on April 21, seizing 65 cases of soap containing brown powder suspected to be heroin. The operation took place during a routine check on the outskirts of Zotlang, specifically at the Forest Check Gate.
A vehicle bearing registration number MZ04 A-9119, driven by Benjamin Lalvumsanga of Kanan Veng, Champhai, was halted by the police due to suspicions of carrying illegal contraband. Upon inspection, Benjamin Lalvumsanga (22) and Zion Lalramchullovi (34), both residents of Kanan Veng, Champhai, were found in possession of 65 soap cases containing brown powder suspected to be heroin, weighing a total of 788 grams and valued at approximately Rs. 23,64,000. The contraband was concealed in a red-colored rucksack inside their vehicle.
In the presence of reliable witnesses, the vehicle and the recovered items were seized by the police. The suspected individuals were formally arrested after being informed of the grounds for their arrest. Subsequently, a case was registered at the Champhai Police Station.
