Major heroin seizure in Aizawl: 985 grams confiscated in single day

The Excise and Narcotics Department of Mizoram seized a total of 985 grams of heroin across three localities in Aizawl on Wednesday.

The largest haul occurred in Hunthar locality, where officers confiscated 775 grams of heroin from a 23-year-old individual, Lalmuansanga. In Durtlang North locality, 131 grams were seized from Lalbuatsaihi, a 35-year-old woman. Additionally, 79 grams were seized from Lalsangliana, a 43-year-old man, in Chhinga Veng locality.

All three individuals have been apprehended and charged under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. They were presented before the Judge of the Special Court (NDPS Act) on Thursday. The Excise and Narcotics Department has not disclosed the market value of the seized heroin. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
