A joint team comprising Assam Rifles and Champhai Police successfully intercepted and seized 2.163 kilograms of Methamphetamine, valued at a staggering Rs. 6.489 Crores, at the Melbuk Road junction in Champhai on Monday.
The swift action led to the apprehension of one individual identified as Rohmingthanga (20) hailing from Zokhawthar village, along with the confiscation of a Tata Sumo bearing registration number MZ 08 1627. Authorities promptly handed over both the suspect and the vehicle to the Zokhawthar Police Department for further legal procedures.
In a parallel operation conducted along the Champhai-Aizawl Road, in collaboration with the Customs & Preventive Force, officials recovered a cache of 20 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes, valued at Rs. 26 lakh.
