MakeMyTrip has released its highly anticipated India Travel Trends Report, providing invaluable insights into the evolving preferences and behaviors of Indian travelers. Drawing from the extensive data of over 100 million annual active users, the report offers a comprehensive analysis of where, when, how, and with whom Indians are traveling.
Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, highlighted the report’s significance in understanding and shaping the future of the travel industry, emphasizing its potential to bridge gaps between demand and supply.
Key findings from the report include a substantial 25% increase in the number of individuals taking more than three trips per year, indicating a growing appetite for travel among Indians. Moreover, there has been a notable surge in searches for spiritual destinations from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with destinations like Ayodhya and Ujjain witnessing significant growth. Family-centric travel has also seen a resurgence, with a 64% increase in family bookings in 2023. Additionally, the data reveals a trend towards spontaneous travel, with 46% of domestic flights booked less than a week before departure.
