In one of the largest narcotic drug haul at a time in Mizoram, a team of Special Narcotics PS (CID Crime) of state Police seized 14 kilos and 82 grams of Methamphetamine and 2 kilos and 804 Kgs grams of heroin from a vehicle in the outskirts of Dulte village in north eastern Khawzawl district on Wednesday.
Lalbiakthanga Khiangte IGP and chief public relations officer of the state police said on Thursday that the contraband was recovered from the hidden /secret compartment of the vehicle bearing Tripura registration. The team intercepted the Bolero pickup at around 4.30 AM on Wednesday.
Three non-tribals- MD Iman Hossain (23) s/o Mantajmiah of Sunamura Sepahijala Dist, Tripura, Rippan Hossain (37) s/o Aifumiah of Mog Bari, Kulubari Sepahijala, Tripura and Niranjan Karmakar (40) s/o Lt.Priyalal Karmakar of Cemper Tila, Chandigarh, Purba, Tripura who were alleged to smuggle the seized methamphetamine and heroin were arrested in this connection, Khiangte said.
He said that a criminal case was registered at Special Narcotics Police Station in Aizawl under section 21(c)/22(c)/25/29(1) Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985 for further legal action and investigation of forward and backward linkages. EOM
