Tokhan Sahu, Minister of State for Housing and Uban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. of India held a meeting this evening with officials of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Department at the Conference Hall of Planning and Programme Implementation (P&PI), Govt. of Mizoram to discuss issues and achievements relating to the works development pertaining to urban development and housing for homeless of urban poor under PMAY U, AMRUT, DAY-NULM, SBM-U and also projects in execution under the Aizawl Smart City Ltd. Tokhan Sahu, in the meeting mentioned the central government initiatives to the development of every part of the country without leaving anyone behind. Projects under the Aizawl Smart City Ltd. which are scheduled to be completed by 31st March 2025 should be complied he asserted for the betterment of the people and stressed the need for better branding and wider publicity.
He urged the Officials involved in making master plans for the urban development to make sustainable plans for atleast 20 years futuristic in mind. The intended missions under Swachh Bharat Mission with the constitution of IHHL (Individual House Hold Latrine) should be sustained with an effort to inculcate behavioural change in the public without end. Also, the construction of houses under PMAY (U) should not be impeded with mere unavailability of funds, and quality of work and absolute abhorrence of corruption must be maintained by the official executing the schemes, He stated.
K. Sapdanga, UD&PA Minister, Government of Mizoram who accompanied the central minister while appreciating the minister visit to Mizoram despite his busy schedule requested personal intervention of the Central Minister regarding the issues and challenges faced by the department due to Cyclone Remal and terrain of Mizoram. He invoked the minister to any concession possible in releasing the remaining fund installments for the implementation of the projects. He also appraised the minister pertaining to the projects under Aizawl Smart City Ltd. in which 28 out of 49 projects have been completed and 12 which is scheduled to be completed by 31st March 2025 and the remaining 5 projects anticipated to complete soon after 31st March.
