Mizoram Assembly rejected the private resolution moved by Lalrintluanga Sailo of the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) seeking reconsideration of dissolution of Mizoram Subordinate Service Selection Board (MSSSB). The ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) members rejected the private resolution by a voice vote.

MNF member criticised the government for dissolving the MSSSB without conducting a study on the functions and achievements of the board and apparently due to the fact that the board was constituted by the previous government. They said that the board was created to ease the burden of the state public service commission and to recruit group ‘B’ employees while the state public service commission takes up recruitment of group ‘A’ employees.

However, members of the treasury bench accused the previous MNF government of creating the MSSSB to accommodate ruling party leaders in the board as the first chairman of the board was adviser to the then ruling party. Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Department of Personal and Administrative Reforms Minister K. Sapdanga alleged that formation of MSSSB in 2019 by the then MNF government was unconstitutional as the functions of the state public service commission were confiscated in the name of easing its workload.
