The Governor of Mizoram has been urged by the Central Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union to rectify inconsistencies in the Chakma Autonomous District Council’s hiring procedures. In a letter sent in on Monday, CMCSU voiced serious concerns about the absence of uniform recruiting procedures, which they say results in a culture of favoritism and nepotism that threatens the council’s merit-based hiring process.
The union claims that a number of unlawful appointments, frequently made without public notice or competitive procedures, have been made as a result of unclear recruitment standards. They contend that the CADC’s credibility has been weakened by this lack of openness, which has disadvantaged gifted and qualified people and created a system that gives preference to close relatives of political leaders over those with the requisite qualifications.
According to the letter, “the current practices do not only affect the aspirations of individuals but also impact the community’s growth and development,” advocating for the prompt adoption of clear and uniform hiring procedures. CMCSU underlined that these changes will boost public confidence in the council’s leadership while also guaranteeing equitable chances for all applicants. In order to improve the CADC’s efficacy and foster general development in the Chakma community, the students’ union expressed hope that the governor’s engagement would open the door for significant reforms.
