Mizoram easily defeats Tripura 11-1

At the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Stadium, Mizoram overcame Tripura 11-1 to secure a berth in the Swami Vivekananda Men’s U20 National Football Championship quarterfinals. The win places Mizoram atop Group D with nine points from three games, securing their spot in the round of eight. Mizoram scored nine goals in the second half to pull away from a tight 2-1 advantage at the intermission. Mesak Lalrinngheta and PC Pazawna each scored four goals, while Michael Lalbiaksanga added two and Ngurthanmawia contributed one.

Sukha Dayal Jamatia was the sole source of Tripura’s objective. Jharkhand defeated Himachal Pradesh 2-1 in the other Group D game. Early in the game, Chandra Mohan Soy gave Jharkhand the lead, but Himachal Pradesh’s Aryan Thakur tied the score in the second half. A little while later, Daksh Kumar Mahli scored the game-winning goal. Maharashtra and Tripura both have six points but are behind on tiebreakers, while Mizoram leads the group thanks to their strong performance and better head-to-head record.
