As per Section 47 of the Mizoram Lokayukta Act, 2014, Pu Lalmalsawma, Chairperson of the Mizoram Lokayukta, presented the Fifth Annual Report of Mizoram Lokayukta 2023-2024 to the Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, today. The annual report covers the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 which will be presented before the Mizoram Legislative Assembly.
In this short meeting, Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh was apprised by Mizoram Lokayukta Chairperson Pu Lalmalsawma along with Pu Lalsanglura (Member) and Pu Joel Joseph Denga (Judicial Member), on various activities and initiatives of the Lokayukta in Mizoram. They provided updates on pending cases, ongoing investigations and key developments within their jurisdiction.
According to the Annual Report (2023-2024) submitted, the Mizoram Lokayukta registered 8 corruption-related cases, all of which were recommended for preliminary inquiry. Out of these, reports on 7 cases have been received till date. Since its establishment in March 2019, until February 10, 2025, the Mizoram Lokayukta has registered 71 cases, out of which 46 cases have been ordered for preliminary inquiry. It has a record of 38 case hearings conducted, 4 conviction, 1 acquittal and 3 cases referred for departmental proceedings.
