Mizoram Governor, General (Retd.) V.K. Singh, has officially summoned the fifth session of the Ninth State Legislative Assembly, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM on August 27. The announcement was made through a notification issued by Lalthangmawia, Additional Secretary of the Assembly Secretariat, and reported by HC Vanlalruata.
According to Assembly Secretariat sources, the detailed agenda will be finalized by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), chaired by Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama. The BAC, which includes members from all legislative parties, will determine the session’s duration based on the volume of official matters, particularly the introduction of government bills.
Political observers expect a heated session, with opposition parties preparing to challenge the government over the ongoing shortage of essentials such as fuel, cement, and steel rods. They attribute the crisis to the deteriorating condition of National Highways 306 and 06—vital routes linking Aizawl with Assam. The worsening road infrastructure has severely disrupted transportation and stalled numerous construction projects across the state.
