Alzheimer and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Mizoram Chapter, organised ‘World Alzheimer’s Day, 2025’ observance today at Aizawl Chanmari YMA Hall. Health & Family Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Pi Lalrinpuii highlighted the collaboration between NITI Aayog and ARDSI in the care and support of individuals living with Alzheimer’s. She also mentioned that the state government is in the process of establishing an Alzheimer’s Home under Article 275(1).
The Minister further noted that ARDSI Mizoram Chapter has been actively working with several NGOs, organising workshops, seminars, and training programmes related to Alzheimer’s care. She shared that the chapter maintains close coordination with MUP, YMA, and local Churches across the state, conducting home visits and compiling records of individuals living with Alzheimer’s. Condolence programmes are organised even after the patient’s demise, she added.
Additionally, Pi Lalrinpuii stated that a dedicated online community has been created on social media platforms to offer mutual support among the families of those affected.
