In a significant narcotics bust, Mizoram police confiscated 788 grams of heroin valued at Rs. 23.64 lakh during a routine vehicle inspection on the outskirts of Zotlang in Champhai district, east Mizoram, as revealed in an official statement issued by the police. During the course of a random vehicle check, the police team intercepted a vehicle and discovered the illicit substance in the possession of two individuals suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. Among the apprehended individuals is a woman.
The accused have been identified as Benjamin Lalvumsanga (22) and Zion Lalramchullovi (34), both residents of Champhai’s Kanan locality, according to the statement released by the authorities. The seized contraband was ingeniously concealed within 65 soap cases, stashed away in a rucksack. Subsequently, a formal drug-related case has been registered against the two suspects at the Champhai police station, signaling the commencement of legal proceedings against them.
The seizure underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in curbing the proliferation of narcotics and upholding the rule of law, safeguarding communities from the pernicious effects of drug abuse and trafficking.
