Mizoram RS Mp batted for separate handloom showroom for Mizoram in Delhi

The lone Rajya Sabha member from Mizoram K. Vanlalvena batted for a separate handloom showroom exclusively for Mizoram in Delhi and Handicraft Training Institution in the state in the consultative meeting of ministry of development of north east region (DoNER) held in Delhi. Vanlalvena, in the meeting of consultative committee of DoNER, said that Mizos are known for their skills in handloom and production is also high while there is no dedicated showroom for the Mizo artisans in Delhi. He urged the central government to establish a regular and permanent handloom showroom in Delhi where the artisans can showcase their products.

He also batted for establishment of Handicraft Training Institute in Mizoram to horn the skills of the people in handicrafts. Almost half of the geographical area of Mizoram is covered with bamboo which can be utilised to improve the economy of the state by establishing a handicraft training institute and affect a paradigm shift in the way of life of many people by tapping the bamboo potential, he said. The MP also again raised the issue of reviving Sangau to Saisihchhuah via Pangkhua road along the Mizoram-Myanmar border to link Myanmar where Myanmar government had already constructed a road up to Mizoram border.

Union minister for DoNER Jyotiraditya M. Scindia held at the Parliament House Annexe building was chaired the DONER Consultative Meeting and attended by 7 MPs and senior officials.
