Mizoram Shines at India Skills Northeast Regional Competition 2025–26

The Mizoram contingent delivered an impressive performance at the India Skills Northeast Regional Competition 2025–26, securing nine gold medals, three silver medals, three bronze medals and six Medallions for Excellence. The event was organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and hosted at Guwahati University. The regional competition was held from 19 to 22 January at Guwahati University and featured contests across 26 trades. Mizoram participated in 20 trades, demonstrating strong technical skills and craftsmanship across multiple disciplines.

The competition served as a platform to showcase the handicrafts and professional expertise of youth from across the North Eastern region. Mizoram’s outstanding medal tally underscored the high calibre of skills possessed by Mizo youth, affirming that their craftsmanship and technical competence are competitive not only within the region but also at the national level.

Participants representing Mizoram were selected through the Mizoram Skills Competition organised by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department from 8 to 12 December. Gold and silver medallists from the Northeast Regional Skills Competition will go on to represent the region at the national level. Based on their performance, selected candidates will also represent India at the WorldSkills Competition and the Asian Skills Competition.
