Mizoram Southern Range DIG engages with YMA leaders on security coordination

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Southern Range, C. Lalthanmawia,IPS, held a crucial meeting with leaders from the Lunglei Sub-Headquarters Young Mizo Association (YMA) on Tuesday to explore avenues for enhanced coordination between the NGO and law enforcement agencies to bolster security in South Mizoram.

During the meeting, C. Lalthanmawia stressed the importance of a collaborative effort between the police force and YMA to combat the scourge of drugs and illicit liquor. He emphasized the urgency for all YMA branches under Lunglei Sub-Headquarters to initiate a renewed campaign against drug abuse and other harmful substances.

Addressing recent apprehensions of gelatines and detonators in southern Mizoram, the DIG (SR) underscored the gravity of the situation. He informed the NGO leaders that these explosives are often sourced from licensed stone quarries, which are not authorized to sell them. He urged the YMA to educate the public on the legal acquisition of explosives, emphasizing that they are strictly regulated and cannot be sold for commercial purposes.
