Mizoram to host two two days sports conclave

Mizoram will host a two- day sports conclave as part of preparing athletes  to participate and represent the country in the Olympics to be held in 2036, a minister said. The event will be held between June 13 and June 14  in Aizawl, he said. State sports minister Lalnghinglova Hmar told a news conference that the proposed Mizoram sports conclave will serve as a platform for key stakeholders to voice their opinions and share expertise, thereby inspiring the development of world-class facilities and promote the growth of future athletes in the state through lively and meaningful discourse.

He said that the proposed conclave is the first national level sports conclave to be hosted by Mizoram to prepare athletes and sports persons from various disciplines to win medals in the 2036 Olympics. The conclave will mark an important stepping stone for Mizoram in its transformative journey towards being a center of sports excellence, he said. It is is an initiative under ‘Vision 2036’ by the Mizoram State Sports Council, he said. Hmar said that the Centre has sanctioned Rs. 68.8 lakh to host the event.He said that sports ministers from Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya will attend the event to be held at Baptist Centre in Aizawl.Besides,

Sports Authority of India director general, chief executive officer of India Indian Olympics, secretaries of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Service Sports Control Board (SSCB), industry leaders from Tata Trust, Reliance Foundation Sports, Tata Steel, prominent sports persons from across the country and the state and senior journalist from across the country, among others, will also participate at the two days event, he said. Hmar said that the conclave will also focus on sports infrastructures, coaching and other facilities for the development of sports persons and athletes in the state. He added that certain sports disciplines would be focused during the event to prepare sports persons and athletes to  represent or win medals for the country in the 2036 Olympics.
