Mizoram’s chief minister, Lalduhoma, proposes a budget of Rs 14,412-crore for 2024–25

Mizoram: Presenting the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government’s first annual budget on Tuesday, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced a total expenditure of Rs 14,412.12 crore for the fiscal year 2024–25. The expenditure exceeds the 2023–24 budget forecast by Rs 202.17 crore.
The additional grant claims, totaling Rs 3,287.93 crore, were also tabled by the chief minister for the current fiscal year.

The improvement of the state’s fiscal health will be the top focus in 2024–25, according to Lalduhoma, who also oversees the finance ministry.
With wise public finance management, strategic steps will be implemented to lower our fiscal deficit and stop the growth of debt,” he declared.
According to Lalduhoma, there will be a reduction in the public debt of Rs 697.69 crore.

After presenting the budget, Lalduhoma informed a press conference, “The government will focus on projects, which are fully funded by the Center, as it will be incapable to take up projects from the state’s funds during the year of consolidation.”The budget had no plan to impose additional taxes.
