The drill simulated earthquake damage in the Venglai area, including the flyover and nearby buildings. The exercise began after a simulated earthquake alert was received at the District Emergency Operation Centre, followed by the sounding of a disaster siren. Rescue, evacuation, fire control, traffic management and medical response were demonstrated. The Treasury Office was designated as the Staging Area, while a Relief Camp was set up at the PWD Office Complex. Civil Hospital Lunglei handled treatment of the injured. Officials from various departments, along with NDRF, SDRF, Police, Fire & Emergency Services, BSF, Assam Rifles, YMA volunteers and Aapda Mitra participants, took part in the exercise. DDMA Chief Executive Officer Rochuangkimi Khenglawt expressed appreciation to all departments, response forces, volunteers and the people of Lunglei for their cooperation and collective effort in making the mock exercise a grand success.
