Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Bairabi-Sairang railway line and flag off the first Rajdhani express train between Aizawl and Delhi, and two others trains to connect Mizoram with Guwahati and Kolkata on Saturday. He will also inaugurate two education institutions and lay the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore.
The PM is scheduled to arrive at Mizoram’s lone Lengpui airport at about 9 am from where he will be taken by a chopper to Aizawl’s Thuampui helipad, officials said.He will address a public meeting at Lammual or Assam Rifles ground in Aizawl before leaving for Manipur, they said. During the public meeting, Modi will inaugurate the 51.38 km long Bairabi-Sairang railway line and flag off Rajdhani express train to connect Aizawl with Delhi’s Anand Vihar station, and two other trains- Aizawl – Guwahati and Aizawl-Kolkata, they said.
The PM will lay the foundation stones for multiple projects worth over Rs. 9,000 crore, including 45 km Aizawl bypass road, a gas bottling plant at Mualkhang near Aizawl, Thenzawl–Sialsuk road, Khankawn–Rongura road, Chhimtuipui river bridge on the Lawngtlai–Siaha road and Khelo India multipurpose indoor hall for sports development, they said. He will also virtually inaugurate a residential school at Kawrthah in aspirational west Mizoram’s Mamit district under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme and Eklavya Model Residential school at Tlangnuam in Aizawl, officials said. The PM will fly to Manipur, his first visit since the ethnic violence broke out in May 2023, after attending the public meeting in Aizawl, they said.
