Assam Rifles personnel intercepted a staggering 1.3 kg of heroin, valued at Rs 9.6 crore, leading to the apprehension of a Myanmar national in Mizoram’s Champai district. The paramilitary forces’ official reported this breakthrough on Thursday.

Following actionable intelligence, the security personnel swiftly executed a search operation in Zokhawthar village, nestled near the Mizoram-Myanmar border, on Tuesday. The efforts culminated in the arrest of a notorious smuggler, who was found in possession of the illicit substance hidden ingeniously within 100 soap boxes.

The 35-year-old Myanmar national was promptly detained by the Assam Rifles, with investigations revealing his involvement in ferrying the contraband across the border into India from the neighboring country.
