In a joint operation, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police not only seized over ₹6.67 crore worth of banned Methamphetamine tablets but also arrested a Myanmar national in Zokhawthar village, Champhai district, near the India-Myanmar border.

Acting on specific intelligence, security forces set up a checkpoint on June 29 and intercepted the suspect, who was found carrying 20,200 Methamphetamine tablets weighing around 2.22 kg.

The narcotics, classified as prohibited psychotropic substances under the NDPS Act, and everything seized were handed over to Zokhawthar Police for further investigation. The accused’s nationality highlights ongoing concerns about cross-border drug smuggling through Mizoram. Methamphetamine, also known as “meth” or “ice,” is a powerful and highly addictive stimulant. Authorities continue to crack down on such trafficking to curb the spread of dangerous drugs in the region.
