The Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC) led a demonstration protesting the implementation of border fencing and the discontinuation of the Free Movement Regime (FMR).

Under the leadership of H. Lalthianghlima, President of Mizo Zirlai Pawl, and with Prof. Malsawmliana, Secretary of NGOCC and General Secretary of Central YMA, overseeing the event, the protest saw active participation from various prominent figures. Lalhmachhuana, Chairman of NGOCC and President of Central YMA, delivered a poignant address, while Ngurmawii, President of MHIP General Headquarters, expressed gratitude for the united front against these measures.

The decision to stage the protest was made during a meeting convened by the NGO Coordination Committee on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Central YMA Committee Room. This resolution underscores the collective stance of the committee, which comprises several influential non-governmental organizations, including the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), Mizo Students’ Union, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), MHIP (Mizo Women’s Front), and MUP (Mizo Elders Association).
