IIMA Ventures, in partnership with SAP, has launched the North East Growth Lab (NEGL)—a policy-aligned initiative designed to accelerate 90 startups and social enterprises across the eight northeastern states. Building on the World Bank-supported Assam Agribusiness Growth Lab (AAGL), NEGL is structured to deliver catalytic capital, mentorship, and market access over a three-year period.
The initiative aims to generate ₹100 crore in enterprise value while directly impacting over 500,000 individuals, particularly from low- and middle-income communities. NEGL’s framework is closely aligned with national and regional economic policies focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, and employment generation in underrepresented geographies.
NEGL is expected to catalyze growth among youth-led enterprises, eco-tourism ventures, and cultural product startups. With Meghalaya’s policy support for sustainable business practices and skill development. Strategic partnerships with NABARD, NEDFI, NEHHDC, NERAMAC, and the Ministry of DoNER ensure NEGL functions as a key instrument in Northeast India’s broader economic transformation, enabling localized innovation to scale under national development priorities.
